What We Do

Angus Beef

Our breeding herd of black Angus cattle are fully fed on multi-species pastures which we look to constantly improve.

Our focus has been on reducing synthetic inputs, and maximising the health of our soil through regenerative farming methods, data collection and monitoring to produce maximum production above and below the ground, providing great live weights and animal health gains.

Regenerative

Regenerative Ag is a permissive journey, not a prescriptive method, meaning that we have the freedom to try new things without the restrictions of some other styles of food production.

Grazing is at the forefront of our day to day management, promoting diversity and choice for our cattle every day.

One of our newest tools is a Soilkee Renovator which enables us to sow new seed directly into our perennial pastures. This Builds species diversity and resilience while regenerating the landscape and building soil carbon.

Diversity

With the rising costs of conventional agricultural inputs we have been searching for better alternatives across our whole business.

By utilising diverse multi-species pastures, plants will collaborate through quorum sensing and fungal associations to share and release minerals and nutrients into the soil. This, in turn, can provide a greater nutrient density to the animals that graze them, resulting in all round gains and gives the soil a greater chance of sequestering and building soil carbon at depth.

Agroforestry

We have begun planting Australian native trees, mainly eucalypts, in lower production areas of the farm, and areas where we have removed grazing altogether.

We are planting them at wide spacings and plan to prune them each year removing lateral branches to push them high and promote diameter growth.

We plan for these to be harvested as high quality timber in the future for furniture and acoustic instruments. In the meantime the trees will create wind breaks and environmental habitat areas enhancing the whole farm as they grow.

Willow Creek Adventure Camp

In 1974 the Walter family built a camp dorm facility near the homestead so that school children from the Adelaide region could gain a better understanding of farm life under the name Willow Creek Farm Camp.

Today we have partnered with Surf & Sun | Beyond the Classroom to expand and improve the facility and experiences into Willow Creek Adventure Camp. It is becoming a truly remarkable and unique place to visit. to expand and improve the facility and experiences into Willow Creek Adventure Camp.
